SUBSCRIPTION DATABASES
Do your students need to do research as part of their upcoming assignments for your class? Make it easier for them to access Avenues Library subscription databases by adding them directly into the navigation bar of your Canvas courses.
This works for:
Gale in Context: Biography, Global Issues, Environmental Studies, Science, US History, and World History
Literature Resource Center
Britannica
We will let you know as more become available
Here's how to set it up:
Go into your Canvas course and click on "Settings." Then click on the "Navigation" tab.

Drag the resources you'd like your students to have access to from the bottom menu options up into the top navigation module. Don't forget to hit SAVE at the bottom of the screen.

When your students click on the resource in the navigation bar, the database will show up directly IN Canvas. This is a super convenient and easy way to get students into our subscription databases!

TURNITIN
Turnitin FAQs
Turnitin is a tool for helping reinforce academic responsibility with students, especially when allowing them to view their similarity score and having them resubmit if needed. This helps students identify potential problems and correct them, reinforcing the learning aspect of ethical information usage.
Canvas Integration
Incorporate Turnitin with your Canvas Assignments. It's really easy!
Important notes:
You’ll need to set up Turnitin when you create the assignment (before students begin to submit their work)
Within an assignment, go to submission type, choose External Tool and then click “Find” to see a drop-down of choices. Choose Turnitin from the list.
Once you save the assignment, all submitted assignments will run through Turnitin automatically.

After you’ve saved the assignment, you can go into the “Advanced Settings” within the Turnitin submission tool to customize how it checks for potential plagiarism or citation issues.
